Petr Shevchenko an Artist Going Beyond

EN | GR

Petr Shevchenko is a really good friend. Together we’ve had many laughs; he is kind-hearted and is always there to listen and encourage me. He is an amazing artist and I truly adore his art that channels so much spirituality and magic! His great talent will be showcased in a collateral event in this year’s Venice Biennale. Petr was born in Russia and raised in Switzerland and has been living in Athens for the past eight years, because he finds Greece wildly inspiring and loves its culture and people (Yes, he does!). He never ceases to remind me of the beauty of my own home country in fluent Greek, as he has become an avid speaker, turning our chats bilingual. I’m certain that many future interviews about him, will follow. Continue Reading

Elvira Di Gaia Shoe Heaven

EN | GR

I was acquainted with the gifted Elvira Panagiotopoulou, founder and designer of the Di Gaia luxury shoes, as well as Phi-male, her new collection of hand-made espadrilles, initially through Instagram; her unique, contemporary designs with pop, sexy, and Greek elements, immediately drew my attention! Later on, summer 2018, in Patmos, I met Elvira herself, a successful, dynamic, and beautiful woman with an international reputation – undoubtedly a Greek success story, and I asked her to let me visit her studio, learn more and admire her creations firsthand! Richard Bellia’s Rock Photography

EN | GR

I met the French photographer Richard Bellia at the Foyer of Pallas theatre in Athens, at the exhibition organized by Muse Constant, which kick-started the global tour of his book “An Eye on Music”. Bellia made his “rock photography” debut in 1980, and has since worked for publications like Melody Maker and Liberation, capturing music acts ranging from AC/DC, A Tribe Called Quest, Billy Corgan and Erykah Badu to Lana Del Rey, Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Radiohead, Placebo and Tricky, to name a few. I was lucky to have an intense and fun conversation with him and his pictures of Paul McCartney and Nirvana as a backdrop. He was direct, polite and honest about his thoughts and work and gave me a sneak peek of what it is really like to go backstage, get to hang out with and make friends with rock legends! He also told me his raw unfiltered opinion on digital photography and selfies – which I must say I found very unique! Oh, and he also gave me some tips on how to pose and get a good photo – safe to say I learned from the Best! Merci beaucoup, Richard!

“Ο Αγαπημένος Παππούς” Φαίη Μπαρμπαλιά – Μάνεση

EN | GR

Continue Reading

A to Z Greek by Constantinos Varvitsiotis

EN | GR

Constantinos Varvitsiotis is the man behind the “A to Z Greek”, a contemporary brand, a high-quality version of the greek souvenir, sold worldwide. He has been taking traditional greek summer symbols, such as the donkey, evil eye, watermelon, and turning them into pop fashion objects. I love the simplicity and pop of colors his designs have, blue and white being the dominant ones. I got to interview him, ago at Golden Hall’s favorite spot, Il Barretto, and had Martinis while chatting about his brand, the greek market and, of course, Greece’s unbeatable summers! Eleni Kostika – All you need to know about Astrology!

EN | GR

What the stars have in store for us has been a topic of discussion ever since the ancient times. Learning more about myself and seeking guidance has been a subject I’ve been looking into and, as with everything else I write about, I decided to ask an expert! I was introduced to Eleni Kostika through a common friend, who swore by her astrological predictions! I looked up her bio and realized she is an architect, defined by discipline and clear mathematical thought, whose love for the stars turned her into a professional astrologer. She studied for three and a half years at the International Academy of Astrology and is now a tutor, teaching online classes. On a bonus twist, I discovered that our birthdays coincided, with one day apart – which I took as a great sign – and thus, decided to go myself and have my own natal chart read, before posting anything online. Chrysanthos Panas: Reviving Athens through the Art of Entertainment!

Behind every success story, there is a personality. We tend to focus on the outcome, the milestones of every success persona, but often lose focus of the human factor, the character, history and beliefs. Chrysanthos Panas, together with his brother Spyros, are behind the iconic Island, Zonars and Salon de Bricolage, to name a few, both  visionaries with an impeccable work ethic, they have shaped and reformed the Athenian entertainment & hospitality scene. Chrysanthos, foresaw and came up with the term #AthensRiviera and now, along with his brother, they are focused on #AthensRevival: reviving the Athenian neighborhood around the Acropolis perimeter, back to its original glory!

For the past two decades, I have been incredibly lucky to call Chrysanthos my friend and been to every single one of his entertainment venues. So, before I lay down his success story in this interview, I would like to say the following: his friendship has had a big impact on my life, as he has loved and supported me, unconditionally, ever since the very first day we met. From his getting my mum’s permission to chaperone me on various nights out, to advising me on love dramas and disappointments, to being the very first to encourage me to start my own blog, to introducing me to Valentino and landing me an interview with Jack Pierson, to throwing me the best party at Zonars, the most elegant and sophisticated bar / restaurant in Athens. So, THANK YOU “Panas mou” for always believing in me and for being such a positive influence in my life. Continue Reading
